Assistant Professor Enas Razzak kathum from the College of Pharmacy at Al Ayen University, obtained her PhD. with distinction, for her thesis entitled “Genetic study to Evolution of Virulence factor and Antimicrobial Resistance of Bacteria Isolated from patients with Genital tract infection” in Life Sciences, Microbiology Department at the University of Dhi Qar

The thesis included the collection of 300 samples of GTI patients who were referred to the Bint Al-Huda Maternity and Pediatric Hospital in Nasiriyah. Where all types of negative and positive bacteria and yeasts that cause infection were isolated. Then the highest percentage of infection was taken to study the genetic changes for the Virulence Factors that cause the infection and also a group of 20 genes that cause antibiotics resistance. having done that, the percentage and the number of mutations within each gene were detected by gene scavenger for 40 isolates. As a result,40 new strains isolated for the first time for bacteria and yeasts were recorded in the National Gene Bank (NCBI) National Center for Biotechnology Information, which bears the following accession numbers:
